Wednesday July 20: Steve Brown (center) spoke about obstacles to success. With the help of his friend Ron (right) who shared about the failures & successes of his own life experience; plus the wisdom of Tyrone Edwards (right) to keep God at the center of your pursuits.


After lunch, our students received final instructions on how to make drinks in the coffee shop; & completed finishing touches on both the coffee shop counter top & floor.
Tuesday July 19: Our keynote speaker, Denise Monroe, discussed how respect for yourself & others creates a positive work environment that encourages teamwork & progress. Encouraged, the students made a lot of headway on two main portions of this year’s coffee shop project: counter installation & finishing the floor.
Monday July 18: Our keynote speaker was Dale Beaver; author of the book Before the Thunder Rolls, former chaplain with Motor Racing Outreach, & currently serving as a Pastor at Christian Fellowship Church. Dale spoke about differences in personalities & using individual traits to work together to create an inviting environment. Furthermore, choleric, melancholy, sanguine, & phlegmatic personalities can interweave to form a functioning business.
Thursday July 14: Work day! Project based learning provides FBLE students a practical opportunity to use the tools & encouragement they’ve received from keynote speakers; working together to complete micro tasks, which, help fulfill the macro camp project.


Wednesday July 13: Our keynote speaker was Dr. Ira Neal; a retired educator & local civil rights leader. With over 50 years of service in the local community & the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation, Dr. Neal discussed practical steps to owning your own business & motivated our students towards success. “You can succeed in whatever you choose no matter what your background is” said Dr. Neal, “as long as your work hard & stick to a plan.”

Tuesday July 12: Our second keynote speaker was Mattie Miller, retired from the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation, after 42 years of service in various roles, such as: educator, reading clinician, guidance counselor, assistant principal, & principal. Mattie spoke about keys to success, including: the importance of education, the importance of experience/volunteering, the importance of making a plan, as well as the necessity of timeliness, and practicing thankfulness.

Monday July 11: Our first keynote speaker was Carrie Feltis, Academic Advisor of Administration, at Ivy Tech Community College. Carrie encouraged our students to begin thinking of careers that would best suit their passions & abilities. Also, Carrie shared about her professional experience in two career fields, her job description & daily responsibilities at Ivy Tech, & concluded by leading our students through an interest inventory.
